Four employees from St. Albans City & District Council successfully complete apprenticeship programme despite the challenges of COVID-19

The Team Leading Level 3 Apprenticeship  Programme is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute and leads not only to a nationally recognised Management and Leadership Apprenticeship, but also to the additional award of the CMI Level 3 Diploma in Management.

St. Albans City & District Council initially introduced this development opportunity in 2018. The programme equips line managers with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to successfully manage and develop a team, and is perfect for those aspiring to take on line manager responsibility as well as those who already have some experience of leading a team.

The apprentices were fortunate enough to be nearing the end of their programme when COVID-19 and lockdown hit, however they were forced to adapt simultaneously to a new way of working and a new way of learning, which was not without challenges.

John McMahon, Managing Director of Together Training has worked with St. Albans City & District Council to implement a number of learning and development programmes across the business.

He said: “Huge congratulations all apprentices on their achievement. It’s wonderful news, especially so given the situation with lockdown.”

Rosa Radelat, Senior HR Business Partner added: “The Covid-19 situation has meant that many of our employees are currently working predominantly from home, including our apprentices.

"We are delighted that our Team Leader apprentices have achieved their qualification, especially during this challenging time.  With Together Training, we are also continuing to support other colleagues who are working towards their apprenticeships.’
